Australian Junior and Senior Development Team
Korea Open World Taekwondo Festival

24th June 2006 – 1st July 2006

Taekwondo Australia Inc Sports Programs invite coaches and developing athletes the opportunity to apply to participate in the 2006 Korea Open World Taekwondo Festival. The project is designed to assist Senior and transitioning Junior players whom have had limited success in senior ranks, but show potential through results at National Championships to achieve enhanced results through developmental assistance. Both Senior and junior athletes whom meet the following criteria are invited to apply.

Player Eligibility

As detailed in the Selection Policy athletes seeking selection to the Team must:

  • Be a current registered and insured member of TA with not less than 12 months membership
  • Hold a 1st Poom/Dan (or higher) Kukkiwon Certificate
  • Junior athletes aged 17 years as at 31 December 2006
  • Hold or be eligible to hold an Australian passport
  • Senior athletes whom have 1st or 2nd placing results at National Championships or selections during 2005 but whom have not represented Australia at a senior benchmark event in the past two years. Excluding 2 male & 2 Female athlete whom may have represented Australia at Benchmark events and shall be those with the best international result from previous benchmark events. Such athletes will be considered mentors for developing athletes. Athletes seeking consideration through application shall not be a current BBAP squad member
  • Junior athletes whom have 1st/2nd or 3rd placing results at National Championships or selections but during 2005 have not represented Australia at a Benchmark event as a senior and are 17 years of age or above in the year 2006. Such athletes shall not be a current BBAP squad member.

Coach/Manager Eligibility

  • Coaches who have had students achieve results at National Championships or selections but as a coach have not been selected to represented Australia at a benchmark event in the past three years Excluding 1 Male and 1 Female Coach whom may have represented Australia at Benchmark events and shall be considered mentors for developing Coaches
  • Be 4th Dan Black Belt rank or higher (holder of a kukkiwon or TA National Dan certificate)
  • Have at all times acted in a proper manner and not have engaged in any conduct that would bring the Association or our sport into disrepute or censure
  • Be a current Taekwondo Australia Inc registered member at the date of 18 April 2006
  • Have complied with all Rules of Taekwondo Australia Inc
  • Be a currently registered NCAS qualified coach
  • Have had students of Black Belt level compete at National level for a minimum of two years in either 14-17 or Open Black Belt categories and placed first or second at such an event
  • Have supported Taekwondo Australia in its activities
  • Have ensured full 100% compliance of the National Registration Scheme at the date of 18 April 2006

The Australian development Team will be determined in accordance with the Korea Open Development Team Selection policy - which is available for downloading below. All Applicants are required to read this to ensure they are eligible to apply.
