NATIONAL SPORTS AWARDS
Nominations are now open for the 2006 Taekwondo Australia Inc competition
(sparring category) awards for athletes and coaches. Eligibility of nominated
persons and nominators are listed below. Nominations should be sent to:

AWARDS
Annually the National Sports Board shall implement a sport awards committee,
this committee shall be responsible for endorsing or otherwise nominations
from the various committees for awards in the following categories.
- Elite male and female athlete of the year
- Hall of Fame Award/Athletes. Nominees must have been retired for
a minimum of four years, with the exception of Olympic Medal winners
whom maybe nominated the second year following their retirement.
- Coach of the year
- Hall of Fame Award/Coaches
Method of Athlete/Coach Selection
- Elite award, athletes shall be chosen based on a system as devised
by the National Sports Board Awards Committee based on performance at
national and international competition, Taking into account difficulty
of competition achievements. Ie number of competitors faced, quality
of opposition, etc
- Best coach shall be primarily chosen based firstly on performance
of students from their academy at international competition & benchmark
events.
- Hall of fame shall be based on committee determination with a minimum
requirement for candidates for this award of having been a national
champion three times over their career.
- All recipients of awards shall have been selected or endorsed by
majority vote of the relevant committee responsible for the category.
- Recipients of Hall of Fame awards shall only be eligible for award
in one category of Hall of Fame in any one year.
- Coaches found to have breached rules in regard to registration of
students shall not be eligible for any award.
Nominations for Awards
The committees, boards or persons listed below may nominate to the relevant
committee’s nominees for the listed awards upon the approved nomination
form.
- Any member of the National Sports Board Award committee.
- State coaching board members
- National executive council members
- National Sports Board members
- State executive council members
- A person whom has been part of national team staff relevant to the
person nominated.
