Australia Wins Medals
Australian
competitors, Bromwyn Butterworth (Sliver) and Camela Hartnett (Bronze)
were medal winners at the 1st World Poomsae Championships.

5, 2006. Korea's Chung-hee Jang won the gold medal in the division and
Australia's Bronwyn Butterworth won silver.

Day 3 - Day one of Competition - Monday 4th September 2006
Man Jae Kim (Australia) went through the preliminary, semi-final and
final rounds and finishedjust outside the medal placings. In the division
the final result was:
Korea - Gold
Iran - Silver
Chinese Taipei - Bronze.
Wilhelmina Baljeu - There were 32 contestants in this division, Wilhelmina
was placed outside the semifinal round by 0.2
- Individual Female 1st Senior 19-30 years.
Kyung Eun Yang - competed all day, going through the preliminary, semifinal
and final rounds. In this division Australia was placed 4th.
Korea - Gold
Sparin - silver
Gemany - Bronze
- Male Team - Under 35 years
Mark Johns, Dale Bryce, Joshua Warren - Only the preliminary round was
run through today. Australia goes through to the semi final in this division
on day 2.
Barry Akehurst, David Atkinson, David Cronin -The Male team were placed
in the top ten after the semi final.
Korea - Gold
Iran - Silver
Turkey - Bronze
- Female Team over 36 years.
Bronwyn Butterworth, Anne Povh, Sue Hughes - Our female team were placed
4th after the final round.
Korea - gold
Gemany - silver
Spain - Bronze.
Day 2 - World Poomsae Championships
Sunday 3rd September 2006
Again the team were up at 6am with stretching and a run/walk. The days
are hot but he mornings are fabulous.Its been great getting out of the
hotel and into the fresh morning air. In the morning we left for training
at Korean Masters Association Dojang, abut 1 hour from Seoul. As part
of the training a demonstration was organised by Master Kang with some
of the teenagers from the dojang. The Championships begin tomorrow - (Monday).
Division for the first day of competition:-
- Junior Male Individual
- Junior Female Individual ( preliminary)
- 1st Senior Female
- Male team under 35
- Male team over 36
- Female team over 36.
Day 1- World Poomsae Championships
Today, the team were up at 6am for early morning run and stertch in the
park. After lunch we travelled to the army sports training facility Dojang
outside of Seoul. We trained at their Dojang for 3 hours, going through
all the required poomsae in each division. The day endeed with a traditional
Korean dinner together.The team registration was complete today and competition
schedule was issued.
