Australian Junior and Senior Team/Squads will be contesting a number of competitions both domestically and internationally during August 2006, these being:

• 3rd Commonwealth Championships, Brisbane, Australia - indicative travel dates 17-25 August 2006.
  • 60 junior athletes – up to 11 Coaches/Trainers required
  • Up to 48 senior athletes – Coaches/Trainers required
• 2nd Oceania Championships, Auckland, New Zealand - indicative travel dates 24-29 August 2006.
  • 20 athletes – up to 3 Coaches/Trainers required
  • Up to 16 senior athletes – Coaches/Trainers required

The athletes in these Team/Squads will be supported by Heads of Team, National Sports Board Personnel, High Performance Program personnel along with other Team staff including coaches, trainers, doctor, chaperone(s). These projects are joint initiatives of the High Performance Program and The National Sports Board as supported by Taekwondo Australia Inc.

Team Staffing will be determined via the National Sports Board Selection Panel in accordance with the requirements in the Junior and Senior National Team / Squads Selection Policy

Applications for the positions of Team/Squad Coaches and Trainers are now invited and to be lodged by 26 May2006.

All applicants must meet the following general criteria:

• Hold current Membership of Taekwondo Australia Inc. at the time of this advertisement
• Demonstrated support of Taekwondo Australia Inc including 100% support for the student registration scheme
• Be NCAS Level 1 or 2 accredited
• Understanding of Sports Taekwondo at an International competition level
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work as a member of a Team

Process

Applications for these positions are to be made by completing the JNT-S or the SNT-S Application and Personal Information sheets detailing what positions and Team/Squads is being applied for (can apply for any or all Teams/Squads) and enclosing any other information which may assist your application.

Staff will be selected to provide a blend of coaching experience on the Team/Squad (eg experienced as well as developing coaches/trainers).

Funding

Team/Squad funding for these positions is yet to be determined, however every endeavour will be made to minimise the cost of airfares, meals and accommodation expenses.
